Usually, locals ride their bike, rollerblades, skateboard or simply walk on the right bank in the Bastide neighbourhood when they go to Hangar Darwin. There, recycling is a second nature, as all unused materials and products will find a new lease life in a modern and eco-friendly way. Lively, creative and alternative, the Hangar (French for “warehouse”) is a hybrid location where people come for lunch, wander about, enjoy street art exhibitions, and of course practice all kinds of board sports.
In this former army storage spreading over 2,700 sqm, military equipment made way for an indoor skatepark built using recycled materials. Whatever your age, put your helmet on and prove yourself in the wooden “bowl”, on the ramp or on the various small modules installed here and there. Private and collective skating lessons are available, regardless of age or level, courtesy of the Brigade (the “crew”), who manage the place.
Hangar Darwin is not exclusively dedicated to wheels: with street art, photo exhibitions, and hip-hop concerts, the site pays tribute to all urban cultures.
