Hunting rifles designed for sporting use

Air rifles, hunting and safari guns are all regulated weapons. In order to transport them, you must possess:

  • a gun permit, which will be demanded at check-in,
  • the necessary documents for transportation of weapons and ammunition:
    - import/export licenses,
    - permits awarded by local and national authorities.

This material is included in the baggage allowance.

Accepted ammunition

The following are accepted:

  • ammunition for all hunting weapons,
  • ammunition for calibers less than or equal to 19.1 mm.

Packaging

  • This ammunition must be packaged in fiberboard, wooden or metal boxes, up to a maximum of 5 kg gross per passenger (gross weight = weight of cartridges + weight of box used to package them).
  • Cartridges must be correctly fitted inside their packaging. In order to avoid the cartridges slipping, any free space must be filled with stuffing material.
  • The transport of loose cartridges that are not correctly packaged is prohibited.

For your information

  • Sporting and hunting guns are not considered as dangerous goods but must be kept separate from their ammunition.
  • At check-in, you must declare that your weapons are not loaded and that the cartridges are packed.

Musical instruments

Some musical instruments are accepted in the cabin with no prior agreement necessary (violin, mandolin, banjo, etc.)

An agreement is necessary for the transportation of bulky and fragile instruments (cello, double bass, etc.) that must travel on a seat. Ask for more information when you reserve your ticket from Air France or your travel agency.

For your information

  • The maximum weight of your musical instrument cannot exceed 75 kg.
  • The packaging must have rounded edges.
  • The allocated allowance cannot be increased.

Ice skates

Ice skates are allowed as hold baggage items in a suitcase or appropriate packaging.

For security reasons, their transportation is not permitted in the cabin. These objects are considered as dangerous, much like cutting tools. They are refused at the X-ray process, confiscated and destroyed.

For your information

The weight of the ice skates is included in the passenger baggage allowance.

In the event that your allowance is exceeded, the ice skates are charged at the surplus baggage rate for the destination concerned.
